Who is Chris Jervis?

I am a 34 year old father of two from Fazakerley, Liverpool. For the past two years I have been for filling my passion of connecting people to the great outdoors with guided hikes and wellbeing retreats.

How did you become inspired by sober living?

My reason for choosing sobriety didn’t necessarily stem from inspiration. Having grown up being exposed to the negative effects of addiction, I realised from an early age that in order to lead a positive life I had to choose a path free from the influence of substance abuse. Sober living has improved my life by letting me spend more time with my children in a outdoor environment, and it has helped me to connect with others and build friendships.

What is your favourite sober experience?

Anytime I’m out in nature, connecting with others and helping people overcome their fears.

How do you connect with the outdoors?

When I'm in the mountains I feel grounded, free and aligned. When we realise that we are supposed to be in nature for our mental and physical wellbeing, we feel a connection naturally. By incorporating campfires and cold-water therapy into being in the mountains, we have access to all of the elements which I believe is natures therapy.

Where are you heading next?

Next, I aim to be the first person from Merseyside to climb the highest mountain in each European country to raise awareness for children and adults suffering with mental illnesses.
