Who is Oliver Browne?

I am a qualified Mountain Leader and the Founder of True Summit Adventures. I have competed in many marathons, duathlons and climbed many mountains of 4, 5 and 6000m including European Classics, Mont Blanc and Grand Paradiso, Andean Classics, Cotopaxi, Antisana and Chimborazo, Toubkal and Kilimanjaro in Africa, as well as touching Camp 3 on Mount Everest in Spring 2021, before becoming unwell with Covid19.

How did you become inspired by sober living?

I was fed up of constantly being hungover, being overweight, inactive and unhappy at the realisation that alcohol was holding me back from being all I could be.

What is your favourite sober experience?

Climbing Kilimanjaro on the 2 year anniversary of getting sober. It opened a whole new world to me.

How do you connect with the outdoors?

I was working to go to the outdoors, but then I had a better idea - make the outdoors my work. Now I am a Mountain Leader and have my own adventure travel business. I am pretty much always in the mountains now which is ideal. The last step is to move from London to the mountains. Possibly Chamonix, but the Dolomites would be great also.

Where are you heading next?

Leading an Everest Basecamp and Lobuche ascent in March / April after which I will be in Morocco for a private ascent of Toubkal. Then its back to Nepal for Everests season hopefully.

You can follow Oliver’s adventures here.
