As our upcoming Mindful Mixer event in partnership with Nettle Cafe and Make CIC, draws near, we're shining a spotlight on our choice to engage in alcohol-serving environments and our strong support for NO & LOW alcohol options.

Co-hosting an event where alcohol is served while simultaneously promoting and helping local bar - Nettle Cafe, launch a NO & LOW alcohol menu may seem contradictory, but it aligns with our mission to improve awareness around alcohol use and promote a sober curious lifestyle. Here are our reasons why.

Broadening the Conversation

By co-hosting this event, we are stepping into the heart of mainstream social gatherings where alcohol often takes centre stage. It provides us with an opportunity to broaden the conversation about alcohol and sober living. By being present in spaces where alcohol is traditionally consumed, we can engage with a larger and more diverse audience, reaching those who might not have considered the benefits of a sober or sober curious lifestyle before.

Education Through Contrasts

Hosting an event where both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options are available allows us to create a contrast. Our community can experience the fun and social aspects of a party without the necessity of alcohol. It can challenge the misconception that alcohol is an indispensable element of celebration. This can serve as a powerful educational tool, highlighting that a good time doesn't depend on the presence of alcohol.

Supporting Positive Change

By actively collaborating with Nettle Cafe in launching a NO & LOW alcohol menu, we are encouraging a positive shift in the industry. Bars and restaurants play a significant role in shaping social norms surrounding alcohol consumption. By supporting local establishments in diversifying their offerings, we are contributing to a more inclusive and healthier drinking culture.

Mocktail Innovation

Mindful Mixer allows us to showcase the art of mocktail creation. We can demonstrate that abstaining from alcohol doesn't mean sacrificing flavour or trying new drinks. By featuring innovative mocktail recipes, we inspire creativity and excitement around NO & LOW alcohol options, appealing to both those who are already sober and those who are curious about sober living. Shoutout ‘River Rapids Reviver’, available on Friday, artfully inspired by Arclett.

Promoting Responsibility

Co-hosting an event like Mindful Mixer reinforces the importance of responsible drinking. We can encourage our community to make informed choices about their alcohol consumption, emphasising moderation and the option of enjoying NO & LOW drinks. It's a step towards reducing excessive drinking and its associated harms.

Building a Supportive Community

This is proudly our second invitation to co-host a sober curious event on our home shores of the Wirral Peninsula in line with launching a NO & LOW menu. Events like these help us create a supportive community for those exploring sober curious lifestyles. Mindful Mixer is an opportunity for like-minded individuals to connect, share experiences, and find encouragement in their journey towards a healthier relationship with alcohol.

In summary

Co-hosting an event where alcohol is served while promoting a NO & LOW alcohol offering is a strategic way to advance our mission of raising awareness around alcohol use and supporting the sober curious movement. By engaging with diverse audiences, challenging norms, and providing alternatives, we can shine a spotlight on a more balanced and mindful approach to drinking.
