“I had my usual post Christmas alcohol break (I don’t usually do dry Jan but normally feel like giving my body a rest for a couple of weeks after the excesses of Christmas/NY.). And I noticed that I felt so much better. More energised, more confident. 

I was setting up my business so thought I could do with continuing to feel this energised, so kept up the no alcohol into February and March. I had a social occasion mid March had a drink just because it felt easier than explaining why I didn’t want one. I didn’t drink to excess but felt so sluggish for the next couple of days and I just kind of decided that alcohol maybe isn’t for me anymore. 

I had many, many nights of excess in my 20’s and into my 30’s. I’d already slowed right down to a point where I’d say I barely drank but stopping completely feels different.

It feels like taking a big step towards a happier healthier life. Doing something that’s good for my body and my moods. And ultimately good for my children too. Now I’m in a place where I’m telling people I’m alcohol free and eventually they might stop asking me to have a drink.”
