“I’ve gone down the sober route for 4.5 years and I honestly think I’ve achieved what I would have done in 10 had I not given up. It was dominating my life a little. I had jobs where i entertained clients and hosted events. My social life involved a lot of it, and when it bled into my free time I knew that something was up.

Quitting was hard. The first three month especially, but I was congratulating myself - cheering on my will power. After six months it didn’t feel so strange heading out to places where everyone else was drinking and I wasn’t. After a year it felt pretty easy, now completely normal.

I feel like my relationships with people are stronger, my gardening game is better, my career less stressful - my anxiety less present. I just seem to have more time and the great thing about that is that it’s my choice what to do with it. I’ve spent so much more time in nature that I now work for an organisation who helps people reconnect with it. It’s exciting!”
