“My journey started way back in 2022 when I went sober for 5 months but ultimate fell back into old habits. During this time I’ve never felt better and I think I knew deep down it was something I had to do but could never admit.
Roll forward to November 2023 and after another HEAVY weekend on the booze and on the brink of losing my family, it was time to get serious with sobriety.
I set myself the challenge of going sober for all of 2024. During this time I also set out to do 5 ultra running endurance events to raise money for Alcohol Change UK, Mental Health Foundation and National Trust. I ended raising over £3000 and I am fast approaching 15 months sober. The best decision I think I’ve ever made!
The clarity and sense of freedom I now feel is hard to put into words. I also created Sobriety & Summits during that one year of sobriety in which I recorded weekly check ins so people could follow my journey. It’s genuinely blown my mind at the amount of people that feel the same way but feel they are trapped in the same cycle, week in week out. My aim is to now spread how alcohol change can have a positive effect on people lives.
I want people to experience the mountains because I believe the calmness and the positive effect they can have on you mentally is a key factor in helping someone changes their ways!”
